LTE CatM1 Connected IoT Mobile with Spark

LTE CatM1 is a cellular-based IoT technology for Low Power, Wide Area (LPWA) networking. CatM1 lets you connect IoT and M2M devices to backend IoT services & platforms, and providing moderate data-rates, and good battery life.

LTE CatM1

LTE CatM1 makes use of SparkÕs existing cellular networks to provide a Low-Power Wide-Area (LPWA) networking solution that is optimised for IoT and M2M applications. To get you started with CatM1, we provide information on development and prototyping modules for LTE CatM1. Rollout for CatM1 has been completed, and we are now working with our partners and customers to deliver products and solutions.

You can see the CatM1 coverage (as well as for our cellular networks, and LoRaWAN too) at:

CatM1 operates on Band28 (700Mhz) nationwide. CatM1 operates on Band3 (1800Mhz) only at some selected sites around the country.

A user equipment should support Band28(700Mhz) to ensure nationwide operability.

CatM1 Development and Configuration

LTE CatM1 allows IoT devices to configure their operating parameters from ranges of values that are set by the GSMA, and the Mobile Network Operator (MNO). This allows end-devices to select settings for optimal performance, for their particular application. The following links provide information about these settings, and also evaluation boards that you can configure and use to develop your own IoT devices:
